Woolly Welcome

At three o'clock every afternoon, Caroline Groves and her younger brother Peter leave St. Matthew's School at Harlaston for their walk home.

And when they get outside the school gates, there to meet them is their pet - a bouncing bundle of wool straining on the leash.

The bundle's name is Andrew, a frisky lamb which goes with the children's mother, Mrs. Margaret Groves, to the school every day.

And quite happily, wearing a collar and lead, as would any pet dog. Seven-year-old Caroline bought the lamb with her own money five weeks ago, and he has been living with her at the family's Church Farm home ever since.

Obedient

"He tends to get mad and bounces about when he is off the lead, but he is quite obedient", Mrs. Groves says.

"I suppose he is every farmer's daughter's idea of a pet, and he enjoys his walks.
