The Forge

Forging is the process of metal smiting that involves use of a hammer and anvil. In Harlaston the blacksmith at the forge would have been responsible for making and crafting a wide range of items from metal. In the 1920's photograph you can see a horse waiting to be shod. 

The Forge is one of the properties in the Harlaston Conservation area that is on Lichfield District Council's local list of buildings.  Local list buildings are historic and/or architectural interest and which make a significant contribution to the character of the area.
